Petite Moment: Blake Lively's Amazing Fall Outfit

I know I am very a little late on this, but recently, I started watching Gossip Girl on Netflix and I have become obsessed with it. I love the scandalous story line and the fabulous outfits. And let's not forget the eye candy (Chace Crawford).
The clothes that they wear on this show are so amazing and so thoughtfully planned out. I love Blair Waldorf's preppy but trendy style and she definitely has inspired me to wear my school uniform with a little bit more fanciness. The look above that Blake Lively is wearing while filming, is like the definition of fall fashion. I love her FORTE burgundy cardigan, her Rag&Bone preppy jeans, her suede heeled boots, and her Burberry purse. The trend of mixing prints has transferred into fall, and this outfit executes that perfectly. Also, lets not forget her amazing chunky necklace that gives a little bit of glam to this casual and chic outfit. I am definitely going to try to recreate this outfit and I will let you know what I find!

Do you like this outfit? Are you obsessed with gossip girl? Let me know in the comments below!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Delicious Cookie Recipe!

Hello beauties! Let’s keep this fall time posts going, shall we? During fall, there’s nothing better than wearing cozy outfits and baking! I love the smell of freshly baked cookies(way better than a Bath & Body Works candle!) So as I was on Pinterest and an amazing picture caught my eye. That picture was of Nutella-stuffed brown butter + sea salt chocolate chip cookies! Doesn’t that sound divine? Anyway, I want to share with you guys the recipe from Ambitious Kitchen but before that I will show you the pictures of these pieces of heaven!

Nutella Stuffed Brown Butter + Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookies {The Best Cookies in The World}
Author: Monique
Recipe type: Dessert, Cookie
Prep time:  2 hours
Cook time:  10 mins
Total time:  2 hours 10 mins
Serves: 2 dozen cookies

Nutella is stuffed between a hazelnut brown butter flavor enhanced chocolate chip cookie then sprinkled with sea salt.
Ingredients
  • 2¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1¼ teaspoons baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter
  • 1¼ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg plus 1 egg yolk
  • 1½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon plain greek yogurt
  • ¾ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup milk chocolate chips
  • ½ cup dark chocolate chips
  • 1 jar of Nutella, chilled in refrigerator
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
  1. Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl and set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. The butter will begin to foam. Make sure you whisk consistently during this process. After a couple of minutes, the butter will begin to brown on the bottom of the saucepan; continue to whisk and remove from heat as soon as the butter begins to brown and give off a nutty aroma. Immediately transfer the butter to a bowl to prevent burning. Set aside to cool for a few minutes.
  2. With an electric mixer, mix the butter and sugars until thoroughly blended. Beat in the egg, yolk, vanilla, and yogurt until combined. Add the dry ingredients slowly and beat on low-speed just until combined. Gently fold in all of the chocolate chips.
  3. Chill your dough for 2 hours in the refrigerator, or place in freezer for 30 minutes if you are super eager, although I cannot promise the same results if you do this.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Once dough is chilled measure about 1½ tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Flatten the dough ball very thinly into the palm of your hand. Place 1 teaspoon of chilled nutella in the middle and fold dough around it; gently roll into a ball — it doesn’t have to be perfectly rolled! Make sure that the nutella is not seeping out of the dough. Add more dough if necessary. Place dough balls on cookie sheet, 2 inches apart and flatten with your hand VERY gently. (Really only the tops need to be flattened a bit!)
  5. Bake the cookies 9-11 minutes or until the edges of the cookies begin to turn golden brown. They will look a bit underdone in the middle, but will continue to cook once out of the oven. Cool the cookies on the sheets at least 2 minutes. Sprinkle with a little sea salt. Remove the cooled cookies from the baking sheets after a few minutes and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Repeat with remaining dough.

If you aren’t a fan of Nutella(which is crazy to even say) you can try this Peanut Butter + Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie from AmbitiousKitchen as well.

I tried out the peanut butter version yesterday, and they came out amazing! They don't look quite like her cookies, but when does that ever happen? Here is a picture of my final result:

Petite Moment: Simple and Fun Fall Outfit

Fall Fashion

Fall Fashion by emigarcia featuring banana republic handbags

During fall time, I am all about dressing cozy and simple. Whether it be an over-sized knit sweater or warm boots, the possibilities are endless! So I wanted to share with you guys a fun fall outfit perfect for this transitional weather! I personally have a hard time figuring out what to wear these days because it's still summer, but my heart wants fall! Anyway, back to the outfit. I am obsessed with burgundy this fall and I absolutely love burgundy skinny jeans! Pairing these pants with a simple white collared chiffon shirt will make the pants the main attraction. Adding brown leather booties, a cream colored chain strap bag, and a cute owl ring are just the icing on top!

I hope you guys found some inspiration in this outfit and be sure to comment if you do!

P.S. this outfit looks best when paired with a hot beverage of your choice! :P

Top 10 Fall Trends

This fall there are so many trends to experiment with! From girly pieces to military pieces, there is something out there to please almost every taste. So without further ado, let's get started.

1. Prints on prints.

I absolutely love how Kim from Eat.Sleep.Wear. paired a lighter polka dot blouse with navy blue and white polka dot pants. They really compliment each other and I also really love her silver strappy shoes. This look is a really subtle way to wear head to toe print without looking too flashy.

2. Leather

Well, let's keep the polka dots going shall we?(I love polka dots.) I love how the leather shorts give this feminine top a little edge. You can wear leather pants/leggings, leather blouses, leather skirts, leather jackets, or if you're extra bold, leather everything! There are endless possibilities with this trend! So don't be afraid and just try it!

3. Maroon(the color of the season)

I am loving maroon this season! And when I say loving, I mean more like obsessing! I am stocking up on basically everything maroon colored, from pants to sweaters to scarves! This whole outfit above is like the best fall outfit I have ever seen! I LOVE the maroon pleated skirt! Basically, there are no words to describe this except for perfection.

4. Metallics

Metallics were a big thing on the runway. From coppers, to golds, to silvers, the possibilities are endless! I especially like the metallic pants because they give a little shimmer to an otherwise plain outfit. I would pair a metallic bottom with a black collared shirt and black booties, so the pants can be the star of your outfit. Metallics aren't for everyone but it's worth a shot!

5. Military Inspired

I absolutely love military inspired clothing! The colors of military clothing are perfect for fall because they are neutral. If you don't want to go head to toe military, you can wear a structured jacket with big golden buttons, this will give a cool edge to an outfit.

6. Color Blocking

Color blocking has translated itself to fall. You can color block with your favorite fall colors and look amazing! I love this look above because she is paring a sweater-like blouse with red/maroon pants! This look basically pairs a lot of falls trends in one and makes it look effortless and classic. I would also like to add that structured bags are also a big trend for fall. And if its green like the one above, even better.

7. Tweed Jackets

When I think of tweed jackets, I only think of one thing. Chanel. Tweed jackets are a classic piece that everyone should own. Tweed jackets add sophistication to any outfit. You can wear it with jeans and a tee and look put together.

8. Denim on Denim

Denim on denim looks amazing, if done right. When trying this trend, be sure to wear 2 different shades of denim (I suggest light top, dark bottom.) Adding a colorful accessory such as a chunky necklace will add a much needed pop of color.

9. Peplum

Peplum is another trend that has transitioned into fall. Peplum can flatter every type of body type because it makes your waist look smaller. I love how Anna from SeeJane. paired a peplum top with slouchy boyfriend jeans and ankle strap heels! Her peplum top adds structure to her boyfriend jeans. Also, isn't that Givenchy bag amazing?

10. Menswear

Last, but certainly not least we have menswear. This trend has been a big thing on the runway. You can easily wear menswear by wearing a blazer or a trouser (together or separate.) To add a little feminine touch you can buy these pieces in soft colors and prints. I love this Miu Miu suit in the picture above. The blue color is divine (its a jewel tone, which is good for fall) and I love the blouse that is paired with it.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post and if you try out any of these trends please leave a comment below!

Have a fabulous week!

Petite Moment: Never Forget

As I am sure all of you know, today marks the 11th anniversary of the terrible tragedy of 9/11. I remember when I was eating lunch in 1st grade and the lunch ladies turned on the TV and watched in horror. I didn't know what was happening as they dismissed us all to our parents. When I got home, my mom and I watched the news. She was crying and I wasn't really sure why. Then I saw the buildings crash down and fire and people just running away. It really scared me and I will never be able to forget this day! My heart goes out to all the families of the victims and the survivors. The United States has not been the same since this happened. There has been a loss of trust in just about everyone. Hopefully, everyone can take a moment out of their lives and just think and pray for those people who were affected. No person in the world deserved for this to happen! Hopefully this will give you time to be thankful for the families you have and appreciate their presence. As the picture says above "Never Forget."

Fashion Week and The Day The World Stopped Turning

11 years later, today fashion week in New York is in full swing; and eleven years ago it was the same story.   11 years ago fashion week was still held at Bryant Park rather than this year’s location at Lincoln Center.  On September 11, 2001 we all woke up thinking it would be an ordinary day, a day like any other that we would probably not remember, but that was not the case.  We all remember where we were and what we were doing, and for some, they were preparing for fashion week.  On September 11, 2001 fashion week was on their fourth day.  There had only been 53 shows and 73 shows had to be cancelled.  Liz Lange’s fashion show was the last one that year.  She was a maternity designer and her show was the first maternity show at fashion week.  She was excited and it was an anticipated show that “‘Good Morning America’ and the ‘Today’ show were both so anxious to cover it live that they almost battled it out.” Just like the rest of us Americans Liz Lange said “we were in our own little bubble.” On that day we were all prepared to do our own thing.  Children were ready for school, designers and the fashion world was ready to continue fashion week, employees ready for work, and everyone else was simply just ready to do whatever they do.  Somehow, people who had nothing to do with what was going on, people who had their own things to worry about were united by the same incident.  I look back to that day and feel sadness and anger, but I also feel happiness.  I feel happiness because our county was so united those few days, we were all New Yorker’s. Our country has been able to prove that we can get up, that we will be alright, and nothing is bringing us down.  11 years later Fashion week is running smoothly, Fashion is doing just fine. And for the rest of us, I think we are okay too.  We will never forget but at least we know that we got up and we will get up every time we are pushed down.

73 shows were cancelled.  Designers like Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Oscar de la Renta, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan were some designers who were able to arrange simple presentations in their show rooms.  Other designer although weren’t able to do so.  Anna Wintour encouraged designers to continue but she did not know that many designers would not be able to carry on.  New and young designers had lost their deposits and had no more money.  From this Anna Wintour saw an opportunity to help.  On Septmber 21st Vogue and Style.com presented a group show called An American View at the Carolina Herrera Showroom for 11 labels who otherwise would not have been able to showcase anything.

Ms. Wintour said “It was adorable. It was about the industry helping each other. It was a very small thing, but it felt good. We’re not going to be defeated”

Dedicated to NYPD, NYFD, and anyone who helped at Ground Zero, and to all our brothers and sisters who went down that day.
We Will Never Forget.

The September Issue

I feel like I have to reintroduce myself.  It has been so long since I last blogged.  I should probably give an explanation as to why I wasn’t able to blog very much this summer.  I was busy this summer working, spending time with family, and having fun with family.  I had a great summer and now it is time to have a great fall!  Soon it will officially be fall and I simply cannot wait.  I love every season but I look forward to the ending of a season and to the beginning of another.  And just like every other fall I am really looking forward to this one.  This fall I think my wardrobe will have huge changes! This is a great time for me to make changes to my wardrobe because “September is the January in fashion.”  Just like every January 1st when we make new year’s resolutions we can make what I like to think of as “fashion resolutions.” These “fashion resolutions” should be made in September because this is the month when we make the transition from summer to fall, it is the month when we feel the change in the weather.  And my favorite thing about September… THE SEPTEMBER ISSUE.  I look forward to picking up all of my September magazines.  They are sooo FAT and full of inspiration, and information that my brain thrives for.    I have very recently watched a movie appropriately called The September Issue.  It is, as you can assume, a documentary about all the work that goes into making the September issue at Vogue. The magazine made in the documentary is the September issue of 2008.  Although it is a few years dated it was a very interesting film that I absolutely loved.  It follows the editor of Vogue  (Anna Wintour) around and shows a very close glimpse into her job.  I recommend this documentary to any fashion LOVER.  It is a film that you will have to see for yourself.  If you cannot watch it and really want to know more about it comment letting me know if you want a critical analysis from me.  If you have already watched it comment with your opinions I would love to hear them.

This September allow CHANGE to enter your wardrobe.  Take risks and try not to care about what others think.  I can assure you that I will be taking fashion risks this fall with things such patterned pants (I will let you know how it goes.)  Start new this September. Remember if you love fashion or even if you don’t September can be a new year for you because in the fashion world we have just jumped into this year. It is still just the beginning  of September you can still go out and buy new pieces for your wardrobe, you  can still find some September issues and you can start making fashion resolutions and goals.  Let fall come in and let it inspire you in any way that it may.
